Aaron Harris (formerly of Islands) and Jesse Newkirk meld elements from proto-punk, alternative, and modern indie to take a distinct vibe into wide territory unexpected from a two-piece. After the release of their first EP as a duo in the summer of 2013, the band was voted by fans and critics to be in the Deli Magazine’s top 25 best emerging NYC artists of the year. With a sound compared to Sonic Youth, The Smiths, and Beach House, Steel Phantoms’ aggressive drumming and ethereal guitar build a style dubbed ‘punk with atmosphere.’
